Transfer tape
A clear or paper tape laid over a weeded decal so all its loose pieces can be lifted and applied at once, in the right spacing.
A weeded decal is a lot of separate letters sitting on a backing. Transfer tape holds them all in place relative to each other. You peel the backing off, the letters stay on the tape, and the tape goes on the surface.
Applying a decal with transfer tape
- Clean the surface with rubbing alcohol and let it dry. No glass cleaner, it leaves a film.
- Tape the decal in position along the top edge, like a hinge.
- Flip it up, peel the backing away, and squeegee the decal down from the center out.
- Peel the transfer tape back slowly at a sharp angle, folding it back on itself. If a letter lifts, press it down and try again.
Cut lettering from us comes with the transfer tape already on, so the first step is finding the spot.
