Banner vinyl weights
Vinyl banners come in weights like 13, 15 and 18 ounce. Heavier is thicker, stronger and better for double-sided banners.
Banner vinyl is sold by weight: how many ounces a square yard weighs. More weight means a thicker sheet with a stronger fabric mesh inside.
- 13 oz is the everyday banner. Indoors or out, events, storefronts, announcements.
- 15 oz is a step up for banners that stay up longer or see more wind.
- 18 oz is heavy duty, and it comes with a blockout layer inside so a double-sided banner does not show through.
Matte or gloss
Most banners are matte, which avoids glare under lights and in the sun. Gloss looks more vivid up close.
Weight is only part of how long a banner lasts. Hems, grommet spacing and how tightly it is hung matter just as much.
