Corrugated plastic
A light, waterproof plastic sheet with channels inside, best known as the material for yard signs.
Corrugated plastic, often called Coroplast, is built like cardboard but out of plastic: two flat skins with thin channels (flutes) running between them. It is waterproof, light and cheap enough to put a lot of them out.
Yard signs
The flutes are what make yard signs work. A wire H-stake slides up into the channels from the bottom edge, so the flutes need to run up and down. Tell us if the sign will be staked.
Good to know
- It flexes. Large signs wave in the wind unless they are framed or fastened at several points.
- The channels show faintly through the print at an angle.
- It lasts a season or two outdoors, then fades and gets brittle.
